about

I first met Dag a few years back at a bistro having dinner with some mutual friends. Some beers and hours later we were the only two left, discussing (and arguing about) photography. That might sound like your average “photographer’s night out”, right ? Except it really wasn’t.

You see, I normally never discuss photography with other than clients - simply because when most photographers “discuss photography”, they don’t really. Discuss PHOTOGRAPHY, I mean.

Instead it’s usually an endless, mind-numbingly stupid discourse about camera-specs and brands.

Not so much with Dag though. For the first time in my, at that time, short journey into photography - I met a photographer who simply looked at the camera as “a necessary evil” to bring colors and life to his visions and curiosity about the world around him. And, for the first time I talked to someone who actually saw what I was trying to achieve with photography and challenged my perspective on being a photographer.

That conversation, including some very fiery exchange of opinions - developed into a deep mutual respect and great friendship, and I was humbled when Dag asked me if I wanted to write a short introduction about him for his website.

For me, looking at Dag’s work is always a gentle reminder of what I feel great photography is really about - the simple joy of creating and the genuine curiosity about your subject. His exceptional body of work speaks for itself, and I am sure looking at this website will both inspire you and make you smile. Most of all though, especially if you’re a photographer - I hope it will inspire you to take a little breather and explore the wonderful and exciting world you live in, try something totally different and watch where it takes you.

You might be in for a surprise.

Alexander Schultz, friend and photographer.
